Glenn,

Newegg had a $100-off deal on the ASUS Eee PC 1000. 1G of RAM, 40G SSD,
dual-core Atom N270 at 1.6GHz. Price point and feature set convinced me
to spring for it. I upped the RAM to 2G and I love it.

Came with Xandros (and I left that on as sort of an eeepc reference
disto). I'm running Xubuntu 8.10 from an 8G SDHC card. eeepc kernel
from array.org, else it's just Xubuntu. I have a one hour and 45 minute
train/subway commute, and this little puppy suits that fine. Battery
lasts both ways with juice to spare (if I want it to).

Cheers,
 Pann
