I'm pretty active on a couple of these forums. The mail list is Mailman but it works
well with Majordomo and others as well. Be sure to browse the documentation as an
initial step.

I think that the mail box format will be best determined by your selection of IMAP
server. The speed of the IMAP server will dictate the satisfaction or lack of it, with
web based e-mail. My Squirrelmail preformance was unacceptably slow using UW IMAP.
Cyrus didn't solve the problem either. The answer to the speed problem is using
Dovecot.

So, that is what dictates Maildir.
