What are some things you think someone should have a basic idea in to make
it appear that they know Unix?
If someone only had 30 minutes to learn Unix without any plan for them to
continue Unix education beyond that, what would be some trivia or standard
concepts they should learn so that can pretend to know Unix?
If a non-Unix manager needs to listen in to staff's Unix admin
discussions, what must he know to fake Unix knowledge?
If you have any real world examples of managers or employees or even job
interviewees pretending to know Unix, please share your anecdotes.
Or if you needed to run an interview and only had a minute to evaluate
Unix understanding, what would you ask?
I already have a huge list of concepts and outline for pretending to know
open source Unix, but I am looking for some other's feedback and comments
too.
Feel free to email me off-list if you'd like.
(Well I know it is not possible to learn Unix in 30 minutes. I know it
takes years. It took me years and that included constant study,
programming, reading, and application of skills. Unix classes I taught
have been 7 hour jump start workshops to 9 weeks of night classes.)
