[SLL] finding Linux compatible webcam

Hi all,

I was surfing around looking for a Linux-compatible webcam to with
Skype, and discovered that the Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000 looks nice,
but its current hardware revision ("BCD") is not Linux-compatible:

http://www.quickcamteam.net/documentation/faq/how-many-versions-of-the-quickcam-pro-9000-are-there

This command shows the BCD level of your Logitech webcam:

      lsusb -d 046d:0990 -v | grep bcdDevice

BCD 8 was the hardware update in July 2008 that introduced the
problem.

BCD 9 was due to be released December 2008 but appears to be delayed.
I stopped by Fry's last night and found that their products were still
BCD 8. And besides, the price is cheaper on Amazon:

http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-QuickCam-Pro-9000-Black/dp/tech-data/B000RZQZM0

Is there any way to determine when Amazon starts stocking BCD 9
instead of BCD 8?

Thanks, Ted
