Yeah, a Fedora Core 1 box on the 'net is ... well, mildly disturbing. :)

CentOS 3 would actually be a decent shorter-term "upgrade"  
alternative. It still receives critical security fixes and is much  
more FC1-like than CentOS 5 (very similar kernel version, very similar  
userspace, etc., since RHEL3 was more or less forked from pre-FC1  
rawhide), so fewer places things can go awry.
