You should probably look at OpenVPN as it can provide briding
between networks.  I have never used this, but it looks fairly
easy to configure.  It can also provide connectivity between
private LAN blocks in an normal VPN configuration.

The main reason for using briding seems to be able to allow
broadcast traffic between the messages.  Typically these are used
heavily in Microsoft's ``networking''.  Samba has options to
allow browsing between different subnets without the necessity of
bridging.
