[SLL] what do you do every time for new systems?

I emailed it at 09:26:43 -0500  (I don't live in Seattle area anymore.)

My mail server received it at 10:29:41 -0400

And ssc.com's mail server received it at 07:29:44 -0700 (PDT).

These may be minute or so off of each other, but not an hour off. (Note -- 
three different time zones.)

So that is another thing to do for the list: verify the timezone is okay 
and copy (or symlink) for /etc/localtime as needed.

That reminds me that some I work with install atop (to keep track of 
load too) and mtr (as a updating traceroute).
