Exactly, but how do you do this?

I tried several permutations to no avail, no matter what I did, Linux
was referencing the dmraid virtual device. I tried building an initrd
without dmraid and booted, no luck, even without any dmraid modules
loaded, after fsck fails and I exit to the stand alone shell, I can
see that it wants to associate root with the dmraid virtual device,
even thought it is no were to be seen and there are no references to
it, that I can find.

One problem that I'm not sure how to get around, if I change
/etc/fstab from LABEL=/ to /dev/hda2, what happens when I tried to
boot Linux normally? Is there a way to specify from grub which
/dev/fstab to use? I looked and could not find one.
