[SLL] Seattle only?

Hi all,

I've been a subscriber since way back when. I think I joined back in the
mid-90's, but that just a best guess. If I recall correctly, I learned of
the list through the Linux Journal, but that's really shaking the dust
from the cobwebs!

When I joined it was a "Linux users" list and it helped me get going with
Linux and networking. I'm from Maryland and at first was not really aware
of the geographical location of the list. I recall contributors in New
England, Australia, etc. However, at some time it seemed to become more
Seattle centric. That wasn't too important to me as it is mostly an
informal resource that's always available. I'm mostly a lurker, but from
time to time I do pipe in with questions and an occasional answer.

The list has become more important to me recently as the Linux enthusiasts
group in my area became inactive about four years ago. It seemed to just
blend into the woodwork and disappear.

As long as there's traffic on the list that's more than Seattle activities
and you don't mind some lurkers, I'll be listening. Just hearing other's
experiences helps broaden my view.

Thanks,
Dave

We're wondering, as in "we" at Linux Journal (we own ssc.com and host
this list), if this is/was really intended to be a Seattle only Linux
user's list. And if so if its desired to keep it that way.

If that's not the case we would like to promote the list once in a
while. If its preferred to be Seattle only that's fine.

Maybe somebody that's been here a while can fill us in on the history of
this list. I suspect Phil started it, but I don't know.
