What follows is a question submitted by my brother. His career
endeavors have recently taken him from the world of proprietary
embedded systems to Linux embedded systems. As with many of us, he
still has to use the OS made by the company located east of Seattle.
Screen shots of the Firefox/XP interaction can be provided. Any
recommendations would be appreciated.

Actually, this is Open Source Browser and Microsoft interaction)
Please offer suggestions to solve:
Browser = Firefox v2.0.0.11
OS = XP SP2
Problem = When in Firefox, an attempt to print results in:
1) FF/XP wanting me to install a printer, clicking "Yes", results in...
2) Message stating that the "print spooler" service is not running
Printer service is running (auto start)
Can print from all other apps., including IE.
Have reset "print.print_printer" in FF "about:config"
I see something sitting in my: C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\PRINTERS
"Don't use XP" is not a reasonable answer; I use various Linux
flavors, primarily FC7 & RHEL4, on a routine basis as well (of course
w/o the issues) however for certain situations XP is necessary.
It's as if FF is disjoint from my print spooler. I may/have started
to, play around with firewall/anti-virus to no avail.
I need info/suggestions from a FF brainiac/guru.
Mark
