These are actually likely bugs in flash, which is something I forgot to
mention.

Flash is an animation tool.  It runs things at 30 frames a second,
non-stop.  You can't really turn it off.  So if you've got a page with
flash on it, stuff is running constantly and that can eat up resources,
as well as make things unstable.
