[SLL] Ubuntu/Matrox resolution problem

It turns out that I have another machine that has a Matrox G200 in it, and I
am having the same problem with this one as the other. This machine is a
950mhz Duron with 512 mgs of Ram. I installed and then reinstalled the
Matrox modules using Synaptic but it would pop out and stay in 800X600. Then
I found another program in Synaptic called gvidm and that seems to have
kicked it up to the higher resolution more regularly (not EVERY time but
more often), but then too occasionally the mouse freezes during boot up.
When that happens, I log in and then hit control-alt-delete to reboot it and
move the mouse wildly while it reboots and during the login, and that seems
to work, but it is* hardly* a satisfactory way to go! I would like to sell
some of these older machines with Ubuntu loaded, so I want them to work
right.
This is driving me nuts. Any more ideas?? Thanks.
