[SLL] dd-wrt redux

    Glenn,
I've seen those IE-only postings you mentioned. I can confirm here
that IE is not necessary to flash a factory WRT54GL to DD-WRT.

I've done it with Ubuntu 7.04 and 8.04 running Firefox. As per the
instructions on the DD-WRT site, you must first flash the "mini" DD-WRT
ROM image, and then upgrade to a full (non-mini) version after that.
It's all documented on the DD-WRT Wiki and Forums.

My guess is that there was some Javascript bug that only worked with
IE two or three years ago, and that the meme of "use IE only" has just
propagated itself in the forums.

As a funny side note, a DLink wifi router I've used (similar to the
WRT54GL) also had a Javascript bug that made it not work right under
Firefox. You needed IE to administer the device and change a setting.
But that was on the factory firmware, it had nothing to do with DD-WRT.
