A followup on my previous posts.
For some reason the Edimax worked when I plugged it in after letting the
system sit overnight. No reboots, just plugged it in and it showed up in
the taskbar applet.
The WUSB600N also works. I can unplug one and plug in the other and it
reconnects to the AP.
On my non-desktop system I now have it mostly working, thanks to a
script called cnetworkmanager (I had to do some patching to ignore some
dbus errors on F9) which lets you send commands to NetworkManager.
The only drawback is that it has to keep running, otherwise the link is
brought down (something to do with NM and wifi wanting the user to
interact with it I think).
It is odd that iwconfig and iwpriv still do not work for me.
NetworkManager seems to have implemented its own control functions
instead of depending on the cli tools -- which in this case is a good
thing because it works better.
