Speaking as someone who prefers apt and dpkg, if I am
on an rpm-based system, there's absolutely no chance
I'd try using anything but yum, reverting to /usr/bin/rpm
only to install yum....

There are features in RPMs not available in DEBs and
vice versa, however a package maintainer should be well
versed enough in their own tool to be able to do the job
equally well as the other guy.
