Because these days the underlying packaging system really doesn't matter
much.  It's the tools on top of them that you care about, and guess
what, you get apt on rpm systems too (no yum for deb though, pitty).

What's funny about Sun and Ubuntu is that Red Hat recently hired away
Ubuntu's only Sparc guy and a major kernel guy (Kyle McMartin).  Ubuntu
has some /serious/ longevity problems when they start to try and
actually do the long term support stuff.
