[SLL] odd nvidia driver conflict with keyboard?

I have a new install of Slackware 12 running the 2.6.21.5 kernel on a system
with a geforce2 ti. Everything has been working great. The system hasn't
changed in several years other than the recent OS reinstall. X is not
configured to load on start up.

Everything was working perfectly until I installed the nvidia driver (which
is NVIDIA-Linux-x86-71.86.01-pkg1.run for the geforce 2 ti cards). It all
worked.. X loaded perfectly, etc. until I rebooted. My keyboard stopped
working completely.

After some playing around I figured out that the keyboard works immediately
again if I 'rmmod nvidia'. I can then 'modprobe nvidia' and the keyboard
continues to work without a problem... until I reboot. After rebooting I'm
back to the keyboard not working after the nvidia module is loaded again
(keyboard responds (numlock works) until the nvidia module loads). Remember,
I'm not going into X at all.. it's not even loaded. This is all during boot
up and at the command line.

I've spent the last couple hours searching and I can't find any other
mention of an issue like this where the nvidia module seems to be
conflicting with the keyboard (or maybe the other way around.. who knows).
My guess is that this is a problem with the order the modules are loaded
since everything works if I unload and then reload the nvidia module. Maybe
udev is some how causing an issue here?

Sooo.. does anyone have any ideas that could lead me down the path to a
solution? This box is kind of useless without having both the nvidia driver
and the keyboard working. :-(

Thanks!
