[SLL] uname -m tells me kernel type of 64 bit or otherwise...

Thing is, I was looking for something to tell me if I have a 64bit
kernel. I get that from uname -m, which implies it's telling me the
hardware, not the kernel running on the hardware. Meanwhile, uname -i I
would think, which appears to be the hardware platform, is supposedly
hard to get, but nevertheless appears to be readily forthcoming on
CentOS, and is what appears to be relayed by uname -m. Am I harping on
this too much? It seems to me the information I need should be there,
and there is a serious abusage of laziness going on here.
