[SLL] uname -i and uname -p both "unknown" on ubuntu?

Anybody know why uname -i and uname -p are both "unknown" in ubuntu?
I'm about to write a bug on it.  I see no mention in launchpad, but
presumably it might be some intentional security thing brought to you by
selinux or something...???
