[SLL] A bit OT: pdfs and metadata

Is anyone on this list keeping up with the issues involving metadata in 
Adobe pdfs?  Some years back on this list we discussed a semi-scandal 
about MS metadata not actually getting erased whenever you did whatever 
you were supposed to do to erase it in MS Word, and I recall hearing 
some people boast that they could even extract this metadata after an MS 
Word document was transformed into a pdf.

But looking around the tech sites I see a lot of variously unsupported 
statements that pdfs completely eliminate the MS metadata.  Anyone here 
following this closely?  Could it be true?
