Sadly the 9650 cards have native support in 2.6.19 and newer, and
CentOS are only up to 2.6.18, so the easy way is to create a drivers
disk and use the drivers from
http://www.3ware.com/KB/article.aspx?id=14546
There's instructions at the bottom of the page for how to create a drivers disk.
That's as official / stable as you are going to get with CentOS 5. The
next update (5.1) should include a new enough kernel for native
support.
