No, but it does answer the other question he asked. The main issue
with even attempting to give a answer to that question is it's all
dependant on the platform(s) you are targeting. mpeg-2 is the most
commonly supported, but even then, certain sony clies can only read
mpeg-2 TS and not mpeg-2 PS and other's can only read PS and not TS.
Rinse and repeat for other units and codecs.

ffmpeg now supports h.264, which looks great on ipods and quicktime
players, as it's apple's 'offical' codec of choice.
