Honestly I use ipods. Rhythmbox, banshee, or gtkpod can be used to
manage them. The most I ever had to do was reformat the device after I
got it and used gtkpod to create the initial database files. After
that I could put music on, pull music off, etc.. so long as I used
rhythmbox or banshee.
