Very interesting. I've always felt similarly. I too have a mathematics 
degree, but it's no thanks to my primary education. I was considered a low 
performer when it came to math. Even as an adult, I find I have weird dark 
corners that even non math oriented people have no problems with. Now that 
I'm teaching my son this stuff, and we really *ARE* respectful of math, I 
find that I really was simply a good teacher away from excelling in the 
subject. Fortunately, neuroplasticity being what it is, working with my 
son has helped me to clean things up.
