Because clear communication and community consciousness are related.
Linux is better for the community than is MS, by it's very nature.

I didn't like George lying about weapons of mass distruction either, but
that doesn't make me a bad interpreter of the truth in that case.

Clear communication, and honest criticism are good for everybody.  Being
too sensative about Linux rather than looking at issues critically is
bad for Linux AND bad for the community.

It is not a good functional unit which doesn't optimize in clearly and
concisely communicating its interface.
