Honestly, I'm a big fan of swapfiles rather then swap partitions.
They're just as fast as a partition (internal kernel mapping directly
to the drive, so there's no difference at all) and can be resized as
needed without drive mucking.

Doesn't really answer your question, but figured I'd mention the file option.
