[SLL] Nationwide Internet: melting down?

Here at 1509 N. 143rd Street, I have had reasonable DSL in the past, though
not at feasible current day data rates. The CO is at N 145th and 15th NE,
which is about a mile and a half as the crow drives, but I have been
cautioned that the wired route may be much longer and more devious on
occasion.

Wish they'd get that habit in _my_ neighborhood. North Seattle, no DSL,
three different folks with Qwest have told me "don't hold your breath"
or words to that effect.

Maybe there's no demand. The whole street has Comcast or dialup or nothing,
save one Covad customer at the top of the street. Her phone lines
must be shorter than mine. Or maybe Covad makes promises Qwest won't.
