The only thing I see is the Scale box in the Page Setup dialog (also  
speaking of Mac OS X).  That is a rather blunt tool.

Of course, you can make the print really small by printing 16 pages  
(or some sensible smaller number) per side (at least I can on my  
printer), but that's not what you want either.

I have not looked at available Firefox extensions, which might be  
productive.
